Horticultural Perlite

Perlite is a volcanic glass but is classified among rocks. Perlite is mixed into Plumeria soil to aerate it and suppress rot from moisture as much as possible. Perlite is also used for rooting Plumeria cuttings.

IMPORTANT NOTEWhen working with Perlite, it is advisable to moisten the Perlite with water beforehand or to wear a respiratory mask, as the fine dust can be inhaled through the nose and mouth and can settle in the lungs.

Perlite helps to aerate potting soils and promotes air permeability within the soils. The use of Perlite thus also reduces the risk of root rot.

Perlite is often used for rooting Plumeria cuttings. The dried cuttings are stored in Perlite, which is lightly sprayed at regular intervals to simulate high humidity.
