Frangipani Cuttings - Tips for Successful Propagation

Frangipani Cuttings

If you want a specific Frangipani variety, you can buy a plant or take cuttings from the mother plant (cuttings can also be purchased). The rooting process varies in difficulty from variety to variety.

Rooting Frangipani cuttings is not always easy. Depending on the variety and freshness, it can take 2 to 10 weeks for a callus to form and ultimately the roots to develop.

It can also happen that the cuttings rot at the cut interface, resulting in the loss of the entire cutting.

Before cutting a Frangipani cutting, the following factors or information should be considered:

  • the cutting is freshly cut
  • not cut after dormancy (winter rest)
  • clean and smooth cut
  • tools or cut interface disinfected
