Frangipani Seeds

Whoever has patience and wants to see their own Frangipani grow from seed to plant can try to cultivate it from seeds. The cultivation is not difficult. Fresh seeds typically germinate after 2 – 4 weeks, and if they are not kept too moist, they grow relatively easily.

After a year, the young seeds should then be properly fertilized, placed in the sun, and of course regularly watered. A blossom can be expected (in Europe) at the earliest 4 – 7 years after sowing (of course, there are occasional small miracles).

Attention, if you want a specific color for your Frangipani, then growing from seeds is not the way to go! With seeds (even if the mother plant is known), different colors can come from the same seed pod, as all genetic information is contained in the genetic material. It can happen that you get a new one with red flowers from the seeds of a white Plumeria.

The cultivation from seeds has the advantage that (when new colors and shapes develop) these can be registered under your own name.

The first signs of a blossom must (unfortunately) not necessarily be aThe plant will bloom. There are so-called „knobs“. These are bud shoots that do not develop flowers but only a kind of „knob“. This is a sign that the plant was generally ready to bloom but did not yet have the final strength.

After the „knob“, the plant will spread as it would after a bloom, into 1-5 new shoots.
