If you are dealing with Plumerias, you have certainly heard or read the term „callus„ many times. But what exactly is a callus and what significance does it have? Is it positive or negative? What does the plant need a callus for? A callus forms when the cutting is properly dried and stored. When the cutting has a callus, rooting should begin. Which method the hobby gardener uses remains up to them. A callus can also be too large! If the plant does not feel moisture, meaning it does not have the urge to form roots, it will continue to develop the callus; HOWEVER, if it becomes too thick, it will be difficult for the young roots to penetrate the callus and develop. Ideal callus. This cutting can now be rooted! If you have such a Plumeria cutting, you should definitely start the rooting process. We recommend rooting the Frangipani cutting in perlite, which you should lightly spray every 2-3 days. Never pull the cuttings out of the perlite, but dig them out, as the young roots could be damaged. Another very safe method to root a Frangipani cutting is the bag rooting method. You can also plant such a cutting directly in soil, but you must be very careful with watering. Or you can use the bag rooting method. For this, a plastic bag is filled with soil about 10-15 cm, lightly moistened, and then the cutting is placed inside, and the bag is carefully closed at the top. 80% of the cutting should, of course, stick out of the bag. Store the bag in a warm place (22-25°C). You will see as soon as roots begin to form. What is a callus?
